Murals
This was my first mural and it was done in my kitchen in the year of 2009. There was a lot of planning to do before I started painting. I had to sketch the entire thing with a white colored pencil before I started painting. This took me almost the entire summer because I was not used to painting on a vertical surface and my biggest brush wasn't even an inch thick. Also, the wall texture was very rough and I wanted to save the trouble of sanding the whole wall. Now that I've had experience with a textured wall, it means that I can do murals without sanding the wall. Everything had to have a white layer of paint behind it before I added color and detail so the blue color of the wall would not show through. I was still somewhat new to painting, so this was an opportunity to try many new techniques.
Mural
This was my first paid mural I did for an eight year old girl. I was paid $250. Kelsie was very excited once it was finished. It was about 4 feet tall and six feet wide.
Volunteer work
Although not all of these were actual murals, these are a few projects I did for a wildlife center.
