Animation
I first became interested in animation when my brother started 3D animation classes at the Guthrie Center. I marveled at how he could bring life to characters through movement, and although I did not have the time for a Guthrie class, I was still interested. My sophomore year of high school, I took an Electronic Media class, where we were taught how to use Abobe Photoshop to develop skills as graphic artists. The last assignment of the year was to create an animation in Photoshop, which works similar to a flip book. While it was not quality software for animation, it captured my interest and I wanted to do more animation with my comic characters. My first animation had no sound, and was only a few seconds long, but as I learned to use more programs, I added sound and background music and my animations became longer. Eventually, my ideas became too strenuous for Photoshop, as I began crashing the program multiple times. I began searching for a more advanced program for animation, similar to Photoshop, but with more quality and less limitations. I found Adobe After Effects, a program specifically for video and animation. It took months to learn how to use it, but I figured out enough to at least start an animation. While it was not necessarily quicker than Photoshop animation, it was certainly better and of a much higher quality. I could animate, add and edit sound in the same program, which was helpful since my own laptop could not have iMovie or Garageband.
Peeled out
This was my first animation, done in Adobe Photoshop my Sophomore year. No sound yet, but I was getting the feel for digital animation.
Snowed in
This was my second animation in Photoshop my Junior year and the first animation with audio. I added sound and background music in iMovie. This was the first time that I used two programs for one animation. This was an experiment with sound effects and timing the animation with the music.
On the ball
This was my third animation done in Photoshop my Junior year. This animation also has audio. Part of the reason why this animation took so long to complete was that I crashed Photoshop several times when trying to render short snippets of it one at a time. Some scenes were only a split second, but had 50 frames because the action was fast. I entered this animation in the SBISD MediaFest and won second place in my grade level division.
Captain Zodiak and the planet of ice
This was my fourth animation, only this time it was done in Adobe After Effects. This took over 7 months to create, including scavenging the internet for free sound effects. This animation won Best of Show in the SBISD MediaFest. Because the file is too big to upload, the link to the animation is below:

I will post the link to the complete animation as soon as I complete it.
